Description:
Rivers can be widened and deepened to increase discharge capacity. This changes the river's hydraulic radius and makes it more efficient.
Advantages:
- Increases river velocity
- Efficient
- Reduces friction
- Reduces sediment storage
- Halts migration and erosion
- Protects upstream from flooding
Disadvantages:
- Increases river velocity and erosion downstream
- Habitat damage
- May not decrease overall flood risk/damage
- Interrupts riffle and pool sequence
Thank you some much for this it was very informative and helpful when I needed it so much and I couldn't find any thanks a bunch.
